Fox News: After Takeover, Elon Musk Says He Doesn’t Want Twitter to Become a ‘Free For All Hell-Scape’

‘What are those consequences?’

EXCERPT:

O’GRADY: “I mean, this has been one of the craziest takeovers. He just tweeted out a couple of minutes ago saying, 'The bird is free,' so I think that confirms what the sources are telling me, that the deal is closed. And he’s reportedly already starting cleaning house among top leadership, getting rid of the CEO, the CFO. But now the big question becomes what are the implications for free speech, right? So, he sent a letter to advertisers hinting what is to come. I want to share a quote with you. He said, 'It’s important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner without resorting to violence. That said, Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape where anything can be said with no consequences.' So first question becomes, what are those consequences? In regards to former President Trump, Musk has already shared he doesn’t support permanent bans, indicating he may immediately reinstate him, which, of course, that could be an interesting prospect with the midterms just a few days away, but he’ll also have to contend with advertisers who share they’re going to pause ads if he’s let back on. He also, of course, has investors to think about with that $44 billion price tag. So the second question becomes, what content in this digital town square is off-limits? What is considered violence-inducing? What do we deem misinformation? This tweet right here from Iran’s Supreme Leader, does that belong in the town square? What about Kanye’s recent anti-Semitic rant? Now, Musk has indicated he envisions a product where you choose what you’re comfortable seeing, and if 10% on either side are upset, he’s doing his job.”
