Elon Musk is always claiming the world can run on solar and batteries, so I ran the numbers with his best Tesla Megapack prices, and to power the whole world, as in to back up the world supply for three days, which is the minimum you would need, it would take $400 trillion. So, unless you are dealing in Zimbabwe currency, it doesn't work at all. And you're right, I mean, this is really about life and death. Think about it. Europe right now is talking about not being able to keep themselves warm in the winter. What is this, 1840? How are we possibly living in this world? And the reason is, we know how to produce energy, largely using fossil fuels, but we're forcibly preventing ourselves from doing it. And even worse, we're preventing the poorest people in the world from doing it by telling them to somehow go green when we obviously can’t."
