‘No One in My Family Was Ever the Same’: Dan Bongino Shares an Emotional Memorial Day Weekend Tribute Honoring His Uncle
TRANSCRIPT:
BONGINO: "Every Memorial Day I honor my uncle who was killed in the Vietnam war. His name was Gregory Ambrose. I honor him because when we lost my uncle — I wasn’t alive, but I’ve heard the story many times from my mother — there he is right there, it changes everything, folks. No one in my family was ever the same. He died heroically in Vietnam, he was shot and killed south of Thu Duc saving some of his battle buddies. He never came home. We owned a bar and there was a sign — they were waiting for him the day he was supposed to come back — that said, 'Welcome, home, Greg,' and two gentlemen from the army showed up instead, neither one was Greg. My grandmother was broken forever. It’s hard to talk about it every year. I never met him, but it doesn’t make him any less of a hero:"
