Gas Theft on the Rise Including a 5,000 Gallon/$30,000 Crime Near Los Angeles

EXCERPT:

REPORTER: “You’re looking at gas thieves on the run. Three white trucks at the pumps at the Chevron station in Long Beach. Watch the left of your screen. When police show up, the thieves scatter.”

UNKNOWN 1: “They’re super organized.”

REPORTER: “The trucks are equipped with huge plastic tanks. They break the gas pump so it just keeps dispensing.”

UNKNOWN 1: “Looks like a construction truck, but in the middle it’s designed as the tank. That means everything is modified.”

REPORTER: “The thieves have hit at least three L.A. area gas stations. In Wilmington, they got away with more than 5,000 gallons, $30,000 worth of diesel.”
