NBC NY: Woman Stabbed to Death by a Homeless Man with Five Prior Felonies, ‘This Is All Avoidable’

A woman was brutally murdered in her Chinatown apartment early Sunday, and a man who already had multiple open court cases is in custody in her death

EXCERPT:

REPORTER (voice-over): "According to three sources. Assamad Nash was the man who stalked and stabbed her. Covered in blood, officers took him into custody right there at the scene and later to the hospital to be treated. Nash has five prior felonies and three pending court cases right now, someone who neighbors say should not have been out on the streets."

CHEN: "This is about the community, and our elected officials need to do something much different because this is — this is all avoidable."
