Former Obama Advisor Steve Rattner: Biden’s Unpopular Because He’s Created Crisis
EXCERPT:
RATTNER: "Yeah, I think it’s a confluence of events too. I think Afghanistan was a disaster. It may well pass, but there’s nobody in America pretty much who thinks it was handled well. The border is another huge problem that the public perceives to be a result of Biden encouraging people, this idea that it was going to be a different attitude than Trump and people should come and try to cross the border. That’s another huge problem. I think that — I think he may have over-promised in a way. He’s basically cast himself as a transformational president, one who’s going to be LBJ and FDR put together. But the problem is, he doesn’t — he didn’t really have a mandate to do that. The Senate is 50-50, as you know. The House is very, very slightly Democratic. And in contrast, LBJ, when he was president, had a 169 seat majority in the House, and he had 69 Senate seats as Democrats. So he actually had a mandate. And Biden is trying to pass these transformational proposals with the slimmest, the slimmest possible — slimmest possible majority you could have."
