Fmr. Seattle Police Chief on Crime: ‘We Really Need to Have the Numbers [of Police] Increased’

BEST: "And this comes, this all vaccine mandate and resistance to it, comes at a very unfortunate time when police resources are limited, as you mentioned crime is up, violent crime is up, shootings are up and we need officers in the field performing their work. And so it’s very difficult for police chiefs around the country as they're trying to grapple with the idea of what to do next? In some cases our services are being reduced. Low level calls for service aren’t being responded to as quickly or somebody using you know, telephone, telephonic reporting and that kind of a thing, so they can have officers there for the most critical calls for service. So, really is an unfortunate time. It's a time where we really need to have the numbers increased facing this -- this issue."
