CAL FIRE Dir.: Caldor Fire Has Affected Areas with No Fire History; This Is Climate Change We Haven’t Seen Before
‘Tens of thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate’
EXCERPT:
PORTER: "The Caldor fire is burning in areas that have no fire history that we have, over 100 years, to areas that have burned within the last 20 years. All of the above. And we’re seeing it burn through different vegetation types and age classes that we wouldn’t necessarily expect fire to spread through. And that is absolutely drought, climate change, dry fuel conditions that we just haven’t seen before."
