    EXCERPT:

STEELE: “So, you know, the battle lines have been drawn. I think a lot of folks are waiting to see how Democrats engage on that new front. And the filibuster, to your point, ultimately is tradition. Yes, it is one of the distinctions between the House and the Senate to keep the Senate from sort of playing itself out like the House where the minority has no power, and the minority typically becomes irrelevant, but I think there are tweaks in that process and then that rule that will allow for big important national legislation to be exempted somehow. At least that's the argument the Democrats should be making as they move to blow that thing up. Look, Nicolle, this is not new space for us. Harry Reid dispensed with the filibuster to obtain the objectives of the Biden administration and his cabinet appointments and lower court federal appointments. Mitch McConnell did the exact same thing, just all of a sudden said, you can dispense with the filibuster to carry out the agenda of the Republican Caucus and and on Supreme Court nominations etc. So here we are. This is a conversation a lot about nothing right now because the country needs them to move and act."
