Schumer: If We Can’t Work with Republicans, ‘We’ll Move Forward on Our Own’
‘We would like to work with [Republicans] and we will try to work with them, but we have to get things done’
EXCERPT:
SCHUMER: "The first bill I put on the floor on the American Rescue Plan was bipartisan, it was the Restaurants Relief Act which is helping our restaurants throughout New York. And as majority leader, I have the power to determine what goes on the floor. The first bill, as I said, was bipartisan, Senator Wicker of Mississippi, Senator Sinema of Arizona, one a Republican, one Democrat. So we would like to work with them and we will try to work with them, but we have to get things done. And if we can’t work with them, we will move forward on our own. But our choice would be to work with them."
