Gordon Chang: Biden Calling China a ‘Competitor’ Is Already Outdated

CHANG: “I think that President Biden himself has a view that is just outdated. He keeps on calling it a competitor. He won’t use the term ‘adversary’ and he certainly won’t use the most appropriate term, which is ‘enemy,’ because that’s the way the Chinese think of us. In May 2019, they’ve declared people’s war on America and that pretty much defines the relationship from China’s point of view. With regards to Taiwan, I hope that the Biden administration will defend Taiwan, but we don’t know because Biden sees the world in very different terms than he should.”
