Schumer: What Part of COVID Relief Bill Does McConnell Not Like?

‘And I think that he’s on the wrong side of history, he’s on the wrong side of economics and he’s on the wrong side of politics in opposing this bill the way he has’

EXCERPT:

SCHUMER: "Well, what part doesn’t he like? Does he not like giving checks to people who need help? Does he not like opening the schools safely? Does he not like vaccines? That’s more than half of the bill, those three things. Is he against any of those? And then there's much else in the bill. Feeding people who need food, helping people not be evicted from their apartments or their homes... This bill is aimed at the problems that Covid created. You know, it’s not bipartisan in the Senate, unfortunately. Maybe the next bill will be, because when Republicans see we can do it without them, maybe they will want to join us and do it with us. But it’s bipartisan with the American people. The surveys I’ve seen show that between 40% and 55% of the Republicans like the overall bill, and a much higher percentage like the pieces that I have mentioned. I think McConnell is making a huge mistake. And I think that he’s on the wrong side of history, he’s on the wrong side of economics and he’s on the wrong side of politics in opposing this bill the way he has."
