Jorge Ramos to Ted Cruz: Do You Have ‘a Latino Problem?’
RAMOS: “Senator, do you think that you have a Latino problem?”
CRUZ: “You know, when I ran for the Senate in Texas, 40 percent of Hispanics in Texas voted for me. At the same time Mitt Romney got just 27 percent of Hispanic vote nationwide. Listen, I get –“
RAMOS: “Only 24 percent of Latinos would consider voting for you.”
CRUZ: “Well –“
RAMOS: “So, that means that you might have a Latino problem. Because you’re not for a path to citizenship.”
CRUZ: “What I can tell you is that actual voting results contradicted, that in the last election 40 percent of Hispanic voters in Texas voted for me. And –“
RAMOS: “In Texas, but nationwide – what many people, many Latinos are concerned. Is that since you are not for a path to citizenship, right?”
CRUZ: “I am not for a path to citizenship.”
RAMOS: “You are against Obama’s executive action?”
CRUZ: “It is inconsistent with the law. I support the rule of law. And, by the way –“
RAMOS: “What would you do with dreamers? What you do with dreamers, Senator?”
CRUZ: “Jorge, why do so many people coming to America from other countries. They come here for opportunity, but they also come here for rule of law. There are so many countries across this world where rule of law is not followed, where the president can violate the laws, ignore the laws -- what Barack Obama is doing is what dictators in other nations have done –”
RAMOS: “That’s what your father said also.”
CRUZ: “And you know what, my father -- it’s one of the blessings when you are the child…”
RAMOS: “But, many people don’t understand, why Senator, if you’re the son of an immigrant, of a Cuban-American, why don’t you try to help 11 million undocumented immigrants who are in this country, who are just immigrants like your dad?”
