Peter King: ‘Total Lie’ By McConnell That States Are Looking at Coronavirus Relief To Bail Out Pensions

KING: “That is a total lie being spread by Mitch McConnell, no one is looking for any money other than that we’ve lost directly because of the coronavirus. Were talking about paying the cops, firefighters, doctors, all of the lost revenue because of coronavirus. This has nothing to do with pensions. I am not a big fan of governor Cuomo as far as his policies of governor, I think he’s doing a very good job as far as the coronavirus is concerned. None of the money were talking about, none of the funding would be in any way tied to state policies. It’s entirely because of the coronavirus. Because of the shutdown, and my county has twiceto as many deaths as the entire state of California, 40% of the county budget comes from sales tax. Sales taxes are near zero for the next few months, how do you make of that? All of the money spent at hospitals, all the expenditures. Mitch McConnell says we should go bankrupt, otherwise it’s because we subsidize Kentucky. We get many million less then we pay and, while Kentucky gets billions more than they’re entitled to.”
