Obama Again Mentions Michelle’s Upset About Not Being Paid as First Lady
Speaking today at the White House's "Champions of Change" event, President Obama for the second day in a row mentioned that Michelle Obama is upset she's not being paid as First Lady.
"Paying women the same as men for doing the same job, that's not hard. That's not hard. And it's not a women's issue. As I said yesterday, right now Michelle's not getting paid anything. And she points that out. But before we got to the White House, when she was working, I wanted her to get the same as a man did. Because if she is getting paid, that money accrued to our account. Just like her expenses accrued to our account.
"So this is a family issue. And obviously as a dad this is personal to me. Because when Sasha and Malia start their careers, the idea that they'd be treated differently than someone's sons, is unacceptable."
