CBS News: At Friday Prayers in Iran, ‘There Was the Usual Chant of Death to America’

Meanwhile, ‘Netanyahu went on the attack with a dire warning’

Despite scenes of Iranians celebrating the U.S.-Iran framework, the theocratic government is still fueling anti-American sentiment. Reporting for CBS News, Elizabeth Palmer noted that at Friday prayers, "there was the usual chant of death to America."

Excerpt from her report:

"Iran's foreign minister arrived home to a hero's welcome. From young people thrilled with a deal they hope signals closer ties between Iran and the West. Especially the U.S. Of course not everyone is on side; there was some grumbling from hard-liners who think the deal is a sellout. And at Friday prayers this morning, there was the usual chant of 'death to America.' But the official government line couldn't be clearer; 'we will keep our promises,' said Iran's president, Hassan Rouhani, 'The nuclear negotiations are the first step in constructive interaction with the world.' Specifically the lifting of U.S.-led sanctions that have sucked the life out of Iran's economy and send inflation soaring to 40 percent."
