Friend of Lt. Gov. Fairfax: ‘It’s Time for Governor Ralph Northam to Step Aside’

‘No way he can continue to lead because people can’t trust that they can follow him’

EXCERPT:

SMITH: “So, first off, has Fairfax, someone you call a friend, has he made any indication to you that he is calling for Northam to step down and resign."
FUTRELL: "Well, I haven’t spoken to Justin, Lieutenant Governor of Fairfax directly about this. Because you also understand the peculiar situation that he is in, being that he would be the next person in line. I think he released a very good statement which touched the heart of what all of us were feeling at the time. But what is clear is it’s time for Governor Ralph Northam to step aside. There is no way that he can continue to lead because people can’t trust that they can follow him. And it’s time for him to be able to step aside so the commonwealth can heal and move forward. And I am 100 percent confident that Justin can bring us together so that way we can continue to move forward."
