MSNBC’s McQuade: Bill Barr Is Operating on a Pre-9/11 Thought Process About How Gov’t Work and It Renders His Opinion Obsolete

‘I think this story demonstrates the hazards of offering an opinion when you don’t know all of the facts’

RUSH EXCERPT:

McQUADE: “Well, possibly, but it would all come down to his intent. What was his purpose in doing if he did it for a legitimate reason, no. But if he, too, were doing it for some corrupt purpose, to derail a counterintelligence investigation, then, certainly. I think Elliott makes a really good point in saying just because he had this job 25 years ago, doesn’t mean he’s qualified to do it today. And I would submit in some ways, it may make him even less qualified, because so much has changed in those 25 years. I think this story demonstrates the hazards of offering an opinion when you don’t know all of the facts. What has happened since 9/11 is Congress, through the patriot act, has brought down the wall that previously existed between criminal investigations and counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations investigations. It used to be those two things were kept completely separate. They are now shared. That information is shared, because we want to make sure that the FBI has the ability to connect the dots. That’s the phrase that they use so often. And so William Barr is operating on a pre-9/11 thought process, about how the government should work. And so I think it renders his opinion obsolete.”
