Joyce Vance: Trump ‘Does an Incredible Disservice’ when He Suggests the 9th Circuit Is Less Worthy of Consideration
EXCERPT:
VANCE: "I think it’s true that lawyers in other parts of the country and judges do sometimes refer to the Ninth Circuit as a more liberal circuit. If that was ever true, it’s certainly no longer true as President Trump has in past weeks appointed a number of new judges to the court of appeals. The issue with Judge Tigar who’s a well-respected trial judge, as you pointed out, not a member of the 11th circuit, but a judge who hears cases at the trial level in Berkeley, he was appointed by Obama, but there are also judges who were appointed by Bush, Clinton, Carter, take your pick, and they no more represent the politics of the president who appointed them than anyone else who serves in the capacity as a career government employee does. These are judges who every day decide cases based on the law. The President does an incredible disservice when he suggests that somehow the Ninth Circuit is less worthy of consideration than other circuits in this country."
