Montage: Every Time Sunday Show Hosts Brought up David Duke, Steve Scalise
Despite recent reports that Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) did not in fact speak at a white nationalist conference in 2002, as was earlier reported, the topic still dominated today's political talk shows.
"Steve Scalise, he's part of the Republican leadership in the House, it turns out that -- what is it 12 years ago? -- he made a speech to a white supremacy group," CBS's Bob Schieffer began his interview with Newt Gingrich.
"The group was founded by former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard, David Duke," emphasized NBC's Chuck Todd.
CNN's John King and NBC's Chuck Todd both wondered whether Scalise should be allowed to retain his leadership position.
Inevitably the topic turned to 2016. Bob Schieffer and John King both speculated about the damage the story might have on Republicans' chances in 2016.
