Colbert Announces Trump-Mocking Book to Help Raise Money for Hurricane Relief

‘It’s the perfect gift for young readers and presidents who don’t read’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:

COLBERT: "Meanwhile, lost in all the controversy this week, the people of North Carolina and my beloved home state of south Carolina are still feeling the effects of hurricane Florence. In fact, some places are suffering more now with the cresting of the rivers 13 days after the storm hit. Now, you might recall Donald Trump’s visit to North Carolina after the hurricane did not comfort everyone. He had an impassioned, and truly heartfelt response to this one boat that washed ashore. He wouldn’t stop talking about it. He made so many kind of odd comments about that boat that as a hockey— ha-ha— we turned all of those comments into a children’s book made up entirely of quotes of trump touring hurricane damage. Well, the joke’s on us, because it’s now a real, actual book! “Whose boat is this boat” will be published by Simon & Schuster. Okay. “Whose boat is this boat?: Comments that don’t help in the aftermath of a hurricane,” with “The Late Show’s” proceeds going to hurricane relief organizations: Foundation for the Carolinas, the one S.C. Fund, the North Carolina disaster relief fund, and the world central kitchen. This way, Donald Trump’s comments about that boat are helping, in spite of him. It’ll be on bookstands November 6. But it’s available for preorder starting right now at colbertlateshow.com/book. Preorder more than you need. Preorder more than you need. It’s the perfect gift for young readers and presidents who don’t read."
