Hirono: Kavanaugh Hearing Is Forcing Sexual Assault Survivors to Relive Trauma
‘I don’t see how we, as decision-makers can ignore that kind of pain’
RUSH EXCERPT:
HAYES: " They’ve been on Capitol Hill, they’ve been calling, showing up, protests today outside Senate offices. Does that have an effect inside that building there?"
HIRONO: "I think it does because this is a moment of huge change for our country. How are we going to treat survivors of these kinds of horrendous acts? And this is a moment when all of the people in our country who have experienced so many of them, it’s all coming back to them and they see this as a moment for them to come forward and tell us and share us the truth of their pain. And I don’t see how we, as decision-makers can ignore that kind of pain that is going on throughout our country. And it is all part, I would say, of the me too movement."
