Obama Slams GOP on Campaign Finance, Voter Suppression, Tax Cuts: It’s Not Conservative
EXCERPT:
OBAMA: "They start threatening free speech and they start unwinding campaign finance laws to get billionaires outside influence. And they make it harder for young people to vote and minorities to vote and poor folks to vote. They subsidize corporate polluters and hand out $1.5 trillion in tax cuts without even pretending to pay for them, partly because they figure, 'By the time a Democrat,' like me, 'has to come in and clean up this stuff, they'll suddenly say, 'Oh, these deficits are terrible. And that's why we've got to cut Medicare, that's why we've got to cut Medicaid, because of the deficits.' What happened to all this concern about deficits? You weren't concerned when you gave me a tax cut I didn't need and didn't ask for. Look, none of this is conservative. This — this is not normal, what we're seeing. It is radical. It's a vision that says that it's more important for those who are currently in power to protect that power even if it hurts the country."
