Geithner: America Is ‘Dependent’ on ‘Smart, Creative People’ with ‘Exceptional Integrity’ Like Me, Bernanke
EXCERPT:
GEITHNER: “I just want to say, this is really important thing, which is, you know, in our system of government, where in the executive branch we were placed at top four levels of government every time there was a change in the administration. The system depends a lot on the quality of people that occupied the civil service, the treasury, the talent at the FDIC and the depth of talent experience at the fed and the New York fed. And I think one of the great advantages we had I think, and of course we admire each other and we were lucky in our partnership and in the support of the two presidents we worked for. You know the huge advantage we had is that we had a team of people of exceptional integrity, smart, creative people who're you know, just overwhelmingly focused on trying to figure out what was the best of the bad choices; what would be the most effective thing."
