Steve Rattner on His Charts: Trump Could Lose 60-70 Seats in the House in This Fall

‘Donald Trump is down here at 40%, so you can see him in the minus 60 to minus 70 seat category’

EXCERPT:

RATTNER: "If you have a president with, say, a 50 percent approval rating, they could expect to lose something like 30 seats based on historic record. There's about 70 percent correlation between these results. Donald Trump is down here at 40 percent, so you could see him in the minus 60 to minus 70 loss category. If you look at some of the other examples, this red dot right here, make this a little clearer, this red dot right here is 2010 when we all remember what happened, the rise of the Tea Party. Barack Obama was only at 45 percent there, he wasn’t even at 40, and he lost over 60 seats. If you look at 1994, which we've talked about here on this show before, where the economy was reasonably good, but the president had gone, you know, had raised taxes, actually, and had had some — the health care plan and all this other stuff, he was at 45 percent and he lost over 50 seats. So the historic record, correlation is about 70 percent, much higher than on unemployment."
