Michael Warren: Trump ‘Has Been Moved’ By the Florida Students Calling for Gun Control
RUSH EXCERPT:
WARREN: "Apparently the president himself has been moved by these media appearances by the students at the high school, who are calling for stricter gun laws. I would be a little cautious though about assuming that this sort of emotion will then result in some sort of new laws. It very well could. And it really will take, I think, President Trump and key Republicans, particularly in the Senate to decide what they want to do if they’re willing to do this. You know, you have a lot of gun control advocates who say that anything short of a complete confiscation virtually something like ar-15 rifles will stop. This you are not hearing that from Republicans. Hearing something a little more modest but may actually address the issue, which is tougher background checks. You also have to wonder, what laws that are currently on the books that were maybe not enforced in this particular case in Florida. I think once things calm down a little bit and lawmakers come back, they are all in recess now. They are not here in Washington, we may see something. It’s going to have to take presidential leadership, I think. The question really for that is whether President Trump is going to have the same opinion he apparently does today which is he is babying towards something."
