MSNBC: Trump Calls McCabe’s Wife a ‘Loser’ in Phone Call to McCabe

‘The president was silent for a moment and then turned on McCabe suggesting he ask his wife how it feels to be a loser’

BRZEZINSKI: "According to an exclusive report, the day after James Comey was fired as F.B.I. director, president Trump called McCabe, then-acting director, demanding to know why Comey had been allowed to fly on an F.B.I. plane after he was dismissed. Comey was fired on May 9 of last year. TV cameras showed footage of him boarding an F.B.I. plane that would take him from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. after having received word that he’d been dismissed. According to NBC’s reporting, during their phone call, McCabe told the President he hadn’t been asked to authorize Comey’s flight, but if anyone had asked, he would have approved it. That’s according to three people familiar with the call. The President was silent for a moment and then turned on McCabe suggesting he ask his wife how it feels to be a loser, an apparent reference to a failed campaign for state office in Virginia that McCabe’s wife made in 2015. McCabe replied, 'Okay, sir.' The President then hung up the phone. A White House official who would not speak on the record disputed the account while the F.B.I. declined to comment on the call."
