Gene Simmons on Redskins: I Wouldn’t Want a ‘Sports Team Called the Kykes’ (Mediaite)

KISS frontman Gene Simmons was the “one lucky guy” on Fox News’ Outnumbered today, and he shared his thoughts on the Redskins name. Simmons seemed rather open to the idea of changing it if Native Americans are really bothered by it, saying he’d certainly be uncomfortable if there was a football team named for a Jewish ethnic slur, for example.

He said, “It really has to do with whether or not the American Indian population has a problem with it, because it’s up to them. I would not like a sports team called the Kykes.”

Simmons believes that people have a right not to be “besmirched publicly” if they feel this word is degrading to them. Kimberly Guilfoyle argued that it should really come down to the free market and whether people want to keep supporting the Redskins or not, but Simmons argued that there are limits placed on free speech that should be taken into consideration.
