Burgess Owens on ESPN Pulling Announcer Robert Lee from Va. Game: ‘It Is, To Me, an Insult’
EXCERPT:
OWENS: "This is -- this -- this is a good example of white elitist who for some reason think they can atone for the sins of past generations by their godlike functions a day. It is to me an insult. It -- it -- it actually demeans the excitement, or the -- the -- the growth of my parents’ generation what they did. If they -- if they want to take the time to apologize, let’s start off with things they can do today. Let’s apologize for the 1800 black babies that will be killed today. Let’s apologize 83 percent of black teen males that are no longer working because of democratic policies. Let’s apologize for the 70 percent of black men who deserted their families because of democratic welfare policies. There is a lot of things to apologize for if you want to. Let’s look at the Democratic Party and the liberals and the socialists in this country that has actually taken the heart out of our community. That’s where we need to start. And forget the 150 years ago. Let’s stop trying to change our history."
