FALLON: “We have a great show tonight. Give it up for ‘The Roots!’”

FALLON: “ That is NBC news anchor Lester Holt sitting in with ‘The Roots’ tonight. My man! Oh, Lester, I love you. I watch you on ‘Weekend Today,’ I watch you on ‘Dateline’ and I know that you play the bass, so we wanted you to come in and play and sit in with ‘The Roots.’ You’re fantastic. Thank you for doing this.”
HOLT: “I am just so psyched to be here with these guys. I knew Brian Williams had the whole rap thing sewn up with you.”
FALLON: “Yeah, yeah, yeah.”
HOLT: “So, I needed a place.”
FALLON: “Yeah, you have a a place. and, Brian, you’re in trouble. You better watch yourself, buddy. Lester is in the house right here, playing some licks like that. ‘Dateline’ plays the bassline. Lester Holt.”
