Emily Compagno: Father Is Arguing Coach’s Decision to Bench Baseball Player Son Is ‘Akin to Bullying’
‘That consisted of a pattern of derogatory comments about her private body parts’
EXCERPT:
COMPAGNO: "So usually I can find legal merit to both sides in a lawsuit. But here, frankly, I can’t. This father is arguing that coach’s discretion essentially is akin to bullying. He’s pointing to a case that just came out of South Carolina in which a high school cheerleader was found to have been subjected to pervasive bullying at the hands of her coach. That consisted of a pattern of derogatory comments about her private body parts, crowds jeering at her. She cried herself to sleep every night. The father here acknowledges it was simply for being benched. And yet he claims this is more egregious and is seeking more money than that cheerleading case. No judge or jury will agree.”
