This is someone who is very connected to the administration. This is a clear sign to them that Trump is not playing — he’s not playing loose with this. He wants a win and if you don’t vote with him, you are crossing him. He’s bringing a whole new level of tribalism to Washington where even many Republicans are saying this is a stunning level of political retaliation.
