Dem. Rep. Ryan: I Would Support the Waiver for Mattis

DOOCY: "I wanted to ask you, because we were just talking about General Mattis, who is Donald Trump's pick to be defense secretary. He's going to need a waiver from Congress. How are you going to vote on that?"
RYAN: "I -- I think we need to have a debate about it, because that's how we do things in Congress. We should have a debate --"
DOOCY: "Sure."
RYAN: "-- but I would support the waiver and I would support General Mattis. I think he could be a check -- I don't -- I don't think we need to be in the position as Democrats as just fighting every single thing that happens, of course, if we disagree with it. But if there's someone like General Mattis who needs a waiver, I think he's a capable person. We've been watching him for a long, long time and I think he would make a good secretary of defense."
