GOP Senate Candidate: ‘I Grew Up Castrating Hogs on an Iowa Farm’

‘Let’s make ‘em squeal’

Joni Ernst Will Make Them Squeal (Washington Free Beacon)

Republican Iowa U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst said it’s time to make the big spenders in Washington “squeal” in her new campaign ad.

“I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm, so when I get to Washington, I’ll know how to cut pork,” she said. “My parents taught us to live within our means. It’s time to force Washington to do the same … I’m Joni Ernst and I approve this message, because Washington’s full of big spenders. Let’s make ‘em squeal!”

Ernst, a mother of three who served in Iraq as an Iowa National Guard battalion commander from 2003 to 2004, is trying to get out in front of a crowded Republican primary. The Weekly Standard profiled her campaign this week, noting her particular criticism of President Obama for cutting the military.
