JOHNSTON: “Well, I think a lot of people do recognize that this is Donald’s game and he’s played it many times. But the hardcore Trump followers, as he likes to call them, the poorly educated who he says he loves — doesn’t — they’ll buy whatever he wants to sell. And so, if he doesn’t take the witness stand, he may say, well, the judge set rules that were unfair, there was no point in doing it, it was unfair. Or there is no case, it was all a sham, so why should I take the witness stand? He’ll come up with an explanation that you and I, knowing the law, may find to be ridiculous. But he’ll come up with one and sell it to his hardcore followers.”
