Van Jones: Dems Should Have an Answer to Trump Weaponizing Nostalgia

‘We’re in danger, if you love Joe Biden the way I do, that he owns the past and the future and Biden is stuck with the present’

EXCERPT:

JONES: “But there is a trick that I’m seeing that he’s doing. He weaponizes nostalgia. His original kind of 'Make America Great Again' was like weaponizing nostalgia from the 1950s or something, which was hard for us to understand. But he’s doing it again. It's a nostalgia for the Trump presidency. He’s telling a story about the Trump presidency, how great it was, how wonderful it was, inflation and border and all this sort of stuff. And then he’s projecting this future tense. We’re in danger, if you love Joe Biden the way I do, that he owns the past and the future, and Biden is stuck with the present. And we are going to have to have a compelling narrative, I think, coming out of this. We will have to have a compelling narrative about the future that we want that can stand up to this kind of weaponizing of nostalgia from Donald Trump."
