Chuck Todd: ‘This Is Not the Campaign’ Jeb Bush Thought He Was Going To Run

‘This is not the campaign he wanted to run’

UNKNOWN HOST: "On the other side of the aisle, we heard from Jeb Bush this weekend and he was much more frank, I mean, candler in his statements, something that we haven't seen. We also heard about these meetings with both former President Bush, his father, and brother. What does it say really about where his campaign is headed right now?"
TODD: "I think it was one of those moments of pure honesty. You saw his aspiration is there. I am going to use that old reference but it was that great [indecipherable] back in 1988 when Jon Lovitz said, 'I can't believe I'm losing to this guy.' He at the time was playing another presidential candidate. But that's the feeling you got from Jeb Bush, he just can't believe. This is not the campaign he wanted to run. This is not the campaign that the thought that he was going to be participating in, and I think he's frustrated and we see it. And that was just a rare moment of honesty on stage."
UNKNOWN HOST: "All right. Chuck, always nice to see you. And we will be tuning in in just a little bit. I know Ben Carson is one of your guests on Meet the Press. Looking forward to that interview."
