One After Another, Victims’ Family Members Tell Killer They Forgive Him

To during Dylann Roof's bail hearing, the judge gave family members of the victims an opportunity to say a few words to the confessed killer. To the surprise of viewers nationwide, one family member after another announced that despite their pain, they forgave Roof. 

Excerpts:

ESTHER LANCE: "I just want to know how he can take such a precious life. I will never talk to her ever again. I will never be able to hold her again. But I forgive you and have mercy on your soul. You hurt me. You hurt a lot of people. But God forgives you and I forgive you."

THOMPSON: "My family forgives me, but we would like to you take this opportunity to repent. Give your life to the one that matters the most, Christ, so that he can change the ways no matter what happens to you and you'll be okay. Do that and you'll be better off than you are right now."

MIDDLETON: "Reverend Depayne was my sister. I want to thank you on behalf of my sister for not allowing hate to win. For me I'm a work in progress, and I acknowledge that I am very angry.
