Tim Ryan: ‘Machine Gun Mitch’ McConnell Should Get off His Rear End and Do Something About Gun Control

‘It’s time for Mitch McConnell to get off his rear end and do something’

EXCERPT:

RYAN: "Well, I’ve got to tell you, I mean, not only am I concerned about his diminished mental capacity to even remember the tragedy that just happened in Dayton, Ohio, and called it Toledo that is of significant concern to me and should be to every single American. And also you know, the inaction. I think it's completely disingenuous what he said. He gave the same speech after Parkland. He's trying to cloud this all up, talking about immigration, one of the most polarizing issues that he made toxic, since going back to Barack Obama’s birth certificate issue and then has made immigration the most toxic discussion happening in the United States and now he wants to inject that into these tragedies that happened in the last 36 hours and try to distract. I feel like this whole -- the whole thing was about distraction. He’s going to try to run out the clock. He didn’t talk anything about the gun reform. He didn’t talk anything about the two bills that are sitting at the steps of 'Machine Gun' Mitch McConnell where the background check and closing the Charleston loophole are sitting at the Senate. And it's time for Mitch McConnell to get off his rear end and do something. Because the people in this community, Andrea, are heartbroken, they’re angry. they’re fearful, and now we have the whole country is afraid to go to Walmart or go to church.”
