Joe Biden Participates in AFT Votes Town Hall in Houston [Complete]

EXCERPT:

UNKNOWN: "Year after year, research shows that charter schools lead to more segregation. Yet unregulated for-profit charter schools continue to pull money out of our public schools and even staffing and services for students. What is your plan to stop the growth of unregulated for-profit charter schools?"
BIDEN:" To stop them? I don't support it. And by the way, as I think Randy will tell you, I was part of that conversation. I do not support any federal money, private money for for-profit charter school, period.
(Applause)
And number two, there are — when we started off initially thanking about magnet schools, but now we call them charter schools, there are some charter schools that work, but the truth of the matter is that I don't think any charter school system that does not allow for total enrollment based upon the fact that where you live, your access, whether it's allowed to you or not, should be in a position where they're making this kind of choices. Because the bottom line is, it siphons off money for our public schools, which are already in enough trouble, as well as it siphons off other assets as well."
(Applause)
