Dershowitz: Ford ‘Has to Go First,’ We Don’t Want to Go Back to the ‘Days of the Inquisition’
EXCERPT:
DERSHOWITZ: "Sure, he said, she said, he said, he said. We need to get evidence. I don’t like when I hear from democratic members saying we believe her. You never met her. You don’t know her or know about her. We believe him. He has testified. But, still, let’s have evidence. John Adams said facts are difficult things. And you can’t get away from them. We need facts on both of those issues. The one thing that’s clear where is the American civil liberties union protecting the rights civil liberties of both of these people. She has to go first. If you are a civil libertarian you don’t want to go back to the day was of the inquisition. They would call some poor guy. In we are not telling you what you are accused of or who your accuser is we want you to testify and then we will present your accusers. That’s not the way it works in America. The accuser goes first. She gets cross-examined. Then the accused has an opportunity to respond."
