House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters on Thursday that House Democrats intend to “own August,” ahead of the pivotal 2018 midterm elections.

Pelosi made her remarks to reporters during her last weekly press conference before Congress goes on August recess.

“As we go out there, we intend to own August,” Pelosi said after her weekly press conference. “In terms of having American people in a unifying way recognize that this isn’t who we are as a country. To take children away from their parents.”
