Keith Ellison Slams Tom Perez: ‘Absolutely Wrong’ for DNC to Interfere in Primaries

‘I don’t think that it is the proper role of the DNC to tell any candidate that they should drop out of the race’

EXCERPT:

ELLISON: "Let me also say that sometimes people confuse the DNC and the DCCC. The DCCC got in deep with certain candidates, I oppose that. I think it's absolutely wrong and I don't think that it is the proper role of the DNC to tell any candidate that they should drop out of the race."
LERNER: "DCCC is the Democratic Congressional -- what does it stand for the Democratic --"
ELLISON: "It is the House --‎it's the Democratic House Caucus."
LERNER: "Yeah."
ELLISON: "It's the campaign to get U.S. House members of the Democratic Party elected. And the DCCC leadership has on occasion being caught telling candidates that they shouldn't run or should drop out of the race."
LERNER: "Right."
ELLISON: "I don't agree with this. I've been publicly saying I don't agree with this. It's wrong, wrong, wrong, and people believe that the whole system is rigged and insiders are just pulling strings. It's -- it kills our brand when we do this. My thought is stop it!"
