Josh Kraushaar: Pa-18 ‘Needs To Be a Wake-up Call for Republicans’

PERINO: "The chairman of the national Republican committee, congressional committee, said this is definitely a wakeup call for Republicans. I mentioned to him that it could be that a lot of Republicans have never really had a tough race. So he’s trying to get people that they’ve got to win early and often. They can’t wait to define themselves to their opponents. Your opinion?"
KRAUSHAAR: "This needs to be a wakeup call for Republicans who are still trying to spin this as a unique result. But in reality it is a big red flag for Republican chances to hold the house in November. This is a district that President Trump won by 20 points. He campaigned for the Republican Rick Saccone two times to rally Republican voters. There were over 100 districts that are more democratic, more competitive than this one is on paper. So if you’re going to lose a disstraeubgt that Donald Trump won handedly, one where he is still popular and lose it in the way they did, it just suggests the map is even bigger for Democrats in states that are blue collar or working class districts that are very Republican that could be in play."
