Rove: Democrats Are Likely to Get One or Two Seats in Texas But Maybe Could Be Shut Out
EXCERPT:
BANDERAS: "How worried should Republicans be about losing their seat to a Democrat?"
ROVE: "Well they should -- they should -- they should be worried, in particular if they are in these swing area with a lot of suburban voters, some of whom either sat home, voted for a third candidate, or voted for Hillary Clinton, who are normally Republicans. I think Dr. Jillson's right. The Republicans now enjoy a 95-55 margin in the Texas House of Representatives. I think that they run the risk if they nominate the wrong candidates --"
BANDERAS: "Right."
ROVE: "-- in some of these inner-city suburbs of losing five or ten seats. I don’t see ten, I could see five. in the Texas State Senate, 20-11 margin, there are I think Dr. Jillson's right one seat in Dallas and one seat in Fort Worth, Tarrant County that I think are at risk. And the one in Tarrant County was represented by the last Democrat who ran for governor, before the current Republican occupant took that seat."
BANDERAS: "Yeah."
ROVE: "And when it comes to the House, I -- look, we got three seats up for risk, I think one or two are actually up for risk. I think Democrats will be likely to get one or two of those seats at most. And maybe could be shut out. We got a good candidate in the -- a great candidate in the most vulnerable seat in west Texas."
