Pavlich: Banning Assault Weapons Doesn’t Reduce Mass Shooting or Reduce Crime
RUSH EXCERPT:
PAVLICH: "Right. Of course they are hurting. I mean, I can’t imagine having to go through what they just went through. They have a point when they say I’m not prepared to go back to school. Schools are soft targets and based on what they have been through it’s going to be very difficult to go to school without their classmates who they have shared their learning space and friendships with. When it comes to doing something and what that’s going to look like, there have been a lot of calls today, without a lot of specifics about what to do. We have heard that they want a, quote, assault rifle ban, we can look into that, but the argument has been made repeatedly that that actually doesn’t reduce crime and doesn’t reduce mass shootings. Moving forward with what Washington can do. I’m not so sure it’s actually a federal issue. There are a number of school districts around the country taken security into their own hands and taken it down to a local district level. Every district and every school is different in terms of what their needs are let’s not run to D.C. And the center always and first thing when maybe the solution is more local."
