Noah Rothman: Milo Yiannopoulos Is Provocateur Who Has Nothing Interesting To Say
EXCERPT:
KAY: "Now, you know what? One of the things it was interesting about and Elaine touched on it there, is the difference between the numbers which are suggesting that young people are moving away from the Republican Party and the energy that the Trump Republicans feel on college campuses, that’s where the excitement and the sense of enthusiasm is."
ROTHMAN: "You know, I suppose I have a little more faith in the future, then, Elaine suggested and others would suggest, because some college Republicans have some this unlovely tendency to equate provocation with making an salient point, that will adopt people like Milo Yiannopoulos who is essentially a provocateur who doesn’t have anything very interesting to say, but provokes a reaction in their opponents, which is satisfying, because it is too fraud and apoplectic. I think that's possibly what Trump generates in the young people to whom he appeals. He’s a lightning rod who generates more enthusiasm from the opposition than he does from the people who actually support him, and that is a youthful tendency that has -- has a habit of be sloughing off once you get into your maturity. So, I'm not entirely sure that the future is lost to the Trump Republicans."
