In case you missed it, President Donald Trump created a bit of a firestorm this afternoon when he decided to once again take a shot at Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) with his favorite nickname for her — Pocahontas. However, in this instance, he tossed out the racial slur while honoring Navajo code talkers who served in World War II. And as you’d imagine, his “joke” went over like a lead balloon.

Now, if you were wondering who beyond the White House was going to publicly defend Trump tone-deaf and offensive display, look no further. During a CNN panel discussion this evening, CNN political commentator — and Trump loyalist — Ed Martin claimed that the president was just inserting humor into the proceedings.
