Ed Davis: It ‘Made Me Sick to Stomach’ to Hear Report that Congress Gutted the DEA’s Enforcement Power

‘The number of overdoses occurring around the country in cities big and small is devastating’

EXCERPT:

DOOCY: "When you saw that '60 Minutes' story that talked about how, you know, they purport that the drug industry itself could be in some part responsible for the opioid crisis, what did you think?"
DAVIS: "It made me sick to my stomach. Just in my hometown in July there were over 130 overdose deaths. It is an epidemic."
DOOCY: "Just in July?"
DAVIS: "No, over the course of the year up to July. And so for a six month period there were over 100 deaths. The number of overdoses that are occurring around the country in cities big and small is devastating, so to have Congress not pay attention to that when this bill was being considered is just — it’s hard to believe."
