‘He is the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful military in the world; let’s not sit here and act like it’s responsible and normal’

Nicolle Wallace Slams Trump For ‘Calm Before Storm’ Remark: ‘Incredibly Reckless’ (Mediaite)

President Donald Trump‘s mysterious “calm before the storm” remarkhas been the talk of Washington Friday — with many speculating about what the Commander-in-Chief meant by the comment. But Nicolle Wallace was not in the mood to play the guessing game.

On her show Friday, the Deadline: White House host blasted the President for a comment that she found to be utterly irresponsible.

“It’s incredibly reckless,” Wallace said. “I know the bar is so low it’s buried underground. But it’s incredibly reckless rhetoric to talk about the ‘calm before the storm,’ and to be laughing and joshing.”

Wallace brought up the words of her colleague Stephanie Ruhle earlier in the day — who said that parents of children in the Armed Forces couldn’t possibly have found Trump’s remark to be humorous.

“(I) hear the warnings not just on Twitter but also from moms,” Wallace said. “He is the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful military in the world. Let’s not sit here and act like it’s responsible and normal.”

Ultimately, she remains unsure about the implication of the President’s words.

“Saying ‘calm before the storm’ could have a whole bunch of foreign policy implications,” Wallace said. “Or it could just be, as (Sen.) Bob Corker (R-TN) said a man displaying that he lacks the competence and stability for the job he has.”
